- Description
- It has been found that some waveform retrackers perform better than others at the coast. However, when evaluating retrackers it is difficult to determine which ones have performed the best and which ones should be used under various conditions. This study uses a fuzzy expert system to select the most appropriate retracker at the coast. Different retracking algorithms were used to retrack waveforms, and the results were analysed using the fuzzy expert system. The retracked sea surface height (SSH) selected by the system are used as the output of the SSH profile. The system processes 20-Hz waveform data from Jason-2/OSTM in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. The result from this study shows that the fuzzy expert system is practical to determine an optimal retracker from several retrackers for improving SSHs near coasts. Comparison with independent in-situ data shows that the improved SSHs are well agreed to those from the tide gauge.
